The Girl Next Door

Chapter Three “You can’t run forever,” his voice sang as I ran through the halls, looking for somewhere to hide.  I reached for a door handle and pushed as I turned the knob, shutting it softly behind me before locking it and pushing a dresser in front of it. I took a few deep breaths as I watched the door. “Come out, come out, wherever you are, Baby!” The voice continued. I attempted to stay as quiet as possible as I searched the drawers for anything to use as a weapon, finally hearing those heavy footsteps I dreaded. They stopped directly in front of the room I was in.  All of a sudden I was in an empty room. No windows, but natural light touched every wall. The only thing around the barren room was a door that slowly opened. “No! No!” I screamed, sitting up in an unfamiliar bed, in an unfamiliar room. As I pushed myself up farther on the bed, feeling my breathing pick up, the door to the bedroom was pushed open. All I could see was the silhouette of a tall man. I tried to scream or

Chapter One “Aleksandra,” the unknown voice whispered in my ear as the person wrapped their arms around my small frame. “Who are you,” I whispered back as their hands slid up my arms and around my throat. Their large hands gripped my throat restricting air flow. “You know,” they growled as they choked me. Tears ran down my cheeks as I attempted to breathe. I woke up, gasping for air. I looked around the dark room before my eyes landed on my bright digital clock, 4:15 A.M. I shook my head and started to calm down. Just a dream , I reminded myself before falling back on my sweat coated sheets. I groaned inwardly. I’d been having the same nightmare for weeks. I always woke up in a sweat, struggling to breath. I knew I wasn’t going back to bed any time so I rolled over and pulled my phone off my wireless charger. I scrolled through the messages and comments I missed. I wouldn’t say I was famous, but I was definitely out there. I definitely had a following on Instagram and TikTok fo
